1.  Where do you get your information and verification on Native players?

While we receive daily emails about players that have, or potentially have, Native blood, we don't make the decision to put the individual up without reliable information.  Most of our verification comes from the players themselves, family, friends, acquaintances, and members of the player's community, as well as Native NHL scouts or associates of the teams.  If we receive an abundance of email regarding a particular player, but have no reliable proof, we try to research the player to verify affiliation.  Likewise, we rely on similar information in removing players from the list.  As much as we would like to research each and every player, a volunteer effort such as this does not allow the time.  We rely largely on the Native community to assist us in this identification.

2.  How can I contact individual players?

While we maintain as much information as we can about the players, we have no official affiliation with them.  Although a Native professional hockey players association has been informally discussed, nothing currently is in place.  The best means of contacting a player is through the actual team.  All teams have official web pages, that are listed on the NHL.com site.  These pages usually have contact information for the team and are a good place to start.

3.  Can I borrow information, photographs, or link nativehockey.com to my site?

All information is copyrighted, but you are welcome to use any information if you refer to the site.  Photographs by nativehockey.com carry a similar stipulation.  To legally use any other photographs, the photographer must be contacted (contact information is provided next to each photo).

4.  Why don't you always keep information current?

While every attempt is now being made to keep information current, we do not always have the time or resources to research, verify and update the pages as quickly as we'd like.  If anyone would like to volunteer in any of these areas, please contact us.

5.  Is Joe Juneau Native?

We've been asking the same question for years.  While he certainly looks Native in appearance, Joe himself has never mentioned this.  We have received a few emails from folks letting us know that he is, (and many more asking if he is), and the USA Hockey magazine had him listed under a generic "minority" category, yet we have yet to receive any official information.  Joe, if you ever come across these pages, please let us know
