Happy New Year, Native Hockey Players and Fans!

The first half of the season has brought our NHL players many ups and downs. The injury bug hit early, and Jonathon Cheechoo, Sheldon Souray and Rene Bourque all went down with long duration injuries, but all are back and healthy.

Special notice should go out to Jordin Tootoo, whose playing has vastly improved this year, making him a very valuable player in the Nashville organization. We're proud of you, Jordin!

Also of note, both D.J. King and CodyMcCormick seem to have finally made the big time and should be with their NHL teams for the duration of the year. They are both great kids and we wish them the very best.

Finally, Carey Price made his debut as a Montreal Canadian and has been looking phenominal. Look for this one to be in the league a long time!

You have probably noticed that we have been slow in updating our site this season. This isn't for lack of effort, however all our resources have been going into working on a much larger project. Nativehockey.com will soon no longer just be an information web site, but we will be a full non-profit corporation with 501(c) status.

For the past 13 years, Naivehockey.com has been providing information on First Nations players in the NHL and other levels, including news, interviews and player profiles. We have also provided limited assistance to young Native hockey players by holding contests for camp spots and facilitating the development of players. By taking the next step by incorporating as a non-profit, Nativehockey.com will unveil new programs that will assist in the promotion and development of young Native players throughout North America.

We thank you for your patience, and will return emails as soon as we are caught up.
