01-06-2006 - Ted Nolan News

After years away from the game as a coach, Ted Nolan is once again back in the game he loves. Ted signed a one year deal to coach the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL for the 2005-2006 season. The short term deal was agreed upon by Wildcats owner Robert Irving and Nolan mutually, which allowed Ted to determine if he still had the competitive drive to coach hockey successfully as he had done in the past. In the 1996-97 season Ted was named NHL coach of the year with the Buffalo Sabres. By all indications, Ted has rediscovered that competitive drive for coaching and may be receptive to more of a long term coaching deal in Moncton, something that would make the Wildcats organization very happy.

In his years away from coaching, Ted Nolan has spent a majority of his time looking for ways to improve the lives of Aboriginal people across Canada through various events and programs, always willing and happy to donate his time to Aboriginal causes. NativeHockey.com wishes Ted Nolan and his Moncton Wildcats a great season, and we also wish good things for those in Chicoutimi. May they learn tolerance and good will for all those who visit their community.
