March 2002
Minor League Report - Wichita Thunder of the CHL
We recently returned from a visit to Wichita to see the Wichita Thunder whom host three Natives: Ex-Univeristy of Denver NCAA Div I goalie Stephen Wagner, Long time pro Carlin Nordstrom, and rookie Ray Francis. Wagner refers to the 3 of them as "their own little tribe in Wichita."
Wagner returned to Wichita mid-season this year to continue his winning tear in the CHL. Although a bit out of shape, Wagner looks as if he hasn't missed a beat. With his performance this year, he looks as if he is ready to play at a higher level.
Francis also looked great. Not having seen him before, we were impressed with his exceptional skating skills and speed. On March 2, he was presented with the Thunder's "Most Improved Player" award for the 2001-02 season. Watch for this talented defenseman who looks to have a bright future in front of him.
